Chef Wan’s Kitchen is proud to launch its Ramadhan buffet, available from 16 May to 13 June 2018. The first time ever that the restaurant is hosting an all-you-can-eat buffet showcasing the chef’s signature dishes. With 35 years of experience in the culinary industry, Chef Wan is regarded as a luminary, and has served royalties, sultans and celebrities across the world. The authentic heritage Asian and international dishes that he serves at the restaurant follow the recipes passed down from his grandmother to his mother and then to him.
The smorgasbord will feature mainstays such as Chef Wan’s selangor Beef Rendang, which boasts a tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Of a smooth consistency, the gravy, enhanced with a blend of aromatic spices is moreish and piquant. Equally enticing is the Ayam Lemak Chilli padi – succulent chicken is soused in a rich, spicy yellow coconut gravy, There are also seafood options, such as Lala masak kunyit, sambal petai udang and sotong masak hitam. Feast on other mainstays such as ayam gulai kawab, ikan balado, chicken rendang, javanese beef stew and more while you are here.
Don’t missed out the live stations as well, serving beloved classics such as Bibik Neo’s Laksa, which is Chef Wan’s favourite childhood dish, cooked by his grandmother on special occasions. Whenever Chef Wan hosts laksa parties for international celebrities, this is his signature go-to. Of a delightful coconut creaminess, or described as “lemak” in Malay, the piquant gravy is made from a unique blend of spices, grinded fresh prawns and coconut milk. The other stations will be serving mee soto, kambing soup and bubur ramadas (porridge). Wash the food down with beverages such as homemade bandung and end the buffet experience with desserts such as pulut hitam and assorted kuehs.
Chef Wan’s Kitchen is nestled in the bustling Esplanade and its national significance and beautiful sea view make it a fitting place for a family to bond over a good meal.
When I was there at the buffet launch, I am thankful for the opportunity to try out the various menu that will be served in the buffet. A fun fact is that every 3 days, the menu for the all-you-can-eat buffet will change, so even if you go multiple times, you can always try something new!
